Today's learners live in real time.
Shouldn't their learning do the same?

The Basics

So what's an ILM, anyway?

Learning and Assessment, Converged

An Immersive Learning Module (ILM) is a complete learning and assessment scenario.

Think about a school subject, university course, vocational unit or workplace learning program. Each has learning content to work through, concepts and subject matter to understand, learning outcomes to achieve, assessment criteria to meet, and often projects or practical tasks to complete.

An ILM takes all of those elements and converges them into one complete, interactive scenario.

Learning in Context

Instead of learning the content first and completing separate assessments afterwards, learners progress through a scenario where the learning happens in context. They access information, explore concepts, answer questions, make decisions, solve problems and complete practical tasks as part of what is happening around them.

Mapped to Outcomes

The required learning outcomes and assessment criteria are mapped throughout the ILM, while the learner’s responses, decisions and actions provide evidence of what they understand and what they can actually do.

The learning and assessment within each ILM is grounded in the official curriculum, syllabus, unit of competency, standards or framework it is built around, ensuring the content reflects what learners are actually required to learn and demonstrate.

Looping's proprietary Mapping Framework and Scenario Generator maps these requirements into the structure of each ILM. Learn how ILMs are created →

Scaffolded Learning

ILMs are designed using a progressive, scaffolded learning approach, with knowledge and skills developing as the learner moves through the module.

Just like a school subject, university course or vocational unit isn't normally taught and assessed in a single sitting, an ILM is designed to be completed across multiple sessions. Learners build their understanding, apply what they've learned and progress into increasingly complex concepts and tasks over time.

The length of an ILM depends on the subject, learning outcomes and assessment requirements. Some are relatively short and focused, while larger ILMs can contain five or more hours of immersive learning and assessment, completed progressively across multiple sessions or weeks.

Any Subject. Any Setting.

An ILM can turn almost any subject, unit or framework into something learners can actively step into and work through, whether that means operating within a workplace, responding to an emergency, exploring a moment in history, conducting a scientific investigation or navigating a real-world situation.

The content. The learning. The assessment. The practical application.
All converged into one Immersive Learning Module.

Built with Purpose

Ready-to-Use

Looping is building a growing library of ready-to-use Immersive Learning Modules, covering popular subjects and real-world learning needs, from workplace safety and language learning to science and social-emotional skills.

Choose the ILMs that suit your learners and add them to your Looping subscription for immediate access. As new ILMs are developed, the library continues to grow.

Fully Customised

Need something specific? Looping builds fully customised ILMs around your learning content, subject matter, outcomes and assessment requirements.

From a single school subject or vocational unit to an entire course or learning program, each ILM can be designed to deliver the learning and assessment requirements of the subject, unit or program it is built around.

If you can assess it,
we can Loop it.

ILM Environments

Explore our ILM environments.

Every ILM takes place within a virtual environment, the physical setting in which the scenario unfolds.

An environment isn't an ILM on its own. It's the virtual world we build it in.

The same environment can support completely different ILMs and is adapted for each one to suit the learning content, scenario and activities being delivered. Objects can be added, removed or changed, with specific equipment, machinery, tools and other assets created where required.

Our environments use professionally developed 3D assets, allowing us to build and customise ILMs faster without limiting what each setting can become.

Below are just a few examples from our existing library of environments, ready to be adapted for different ILMs.

Officially
Competent

A modern corporate office with workstations, meeting rooms and shared spaces, built to look and feel like the workplace your learners walk into every day. It was built for our Workplace Health and Safety ILM, set in an office for typical corporate mandatory WHS training and certification (try the demo), and it works just as well for onboarding, compliance, communication and customer service training.

The Construction
Zone

A working construction site with scaffolding, tools, materials and all the hazards that come with them. Learners walk the site, spot what's unsafe, follow safe work procedures and respond when something goes wrong, without anyone getting hurt. Suited to construction induction, site safety, tool and equipment awareness, and trade readiness programs.

Espresso
Yourself

A fully simulated coffee shop designed to support training in barista skills (with fully changeable and customisable coffee machines), customer service, communication, money handling, and point-of-sale operations. Adaptable for literacy and language learning, teamwork, and hospitality scenarios.

Labsolutely
Looping

A fully equipped school science lab built for safe, hands-on exploration without physical risk. Supports inquiry-based learning, scientific process skills, equipment handling, and lab safety protocols. Whether delivering school curriculum, IB, GCSE, or a custom science program, it can be tailored to match your learning outcomes.

Crate
Expectations

A realistic warehouse with indoor and outdoor areas, extending to an oil rig. Indoors, it supports logistics, supply chain operations, hazard awareness and team communication. The rig opens it up to technical and vocational training for high-risk industries, including oil and gas, mining and energy, where tasks such as working at heights, confined space entry and emergency response can be delivered and assessed without a live site. Every area can be customised to reflect the workplace it represents.

Looping
Lingo

Develops spoken English and communication skills through real-time, interactive dialogue scenarios. From ordering at a café to navigating workplace discussions, learners practice conversational English in context-driven environments. Adapts to any proficiency level. Flexible for ESL programs, workplace communication training, CEFR-aligned curriculum, or pre-employment preparation.

I See You
Looping (ICU)

Healthcare and medical training through realistic patient care scenarios. Clinical decision-making, patient assessment, emergency response protocols, and bedside communication in safe, high-fidelity simulations. Supports skill development across nursing, paramedicine, allied health, and medical education programs.
